I have a little orange sticky note at work that I attached to the bottom of my computer screen. Whenever things get hectic and I begin to feel overwhelmed, I try to implement the advice written on that note: “Focus on the Fundamentals.” This is not a new idea. It has been around “forever.”
Besides the many sports teams who have had to run those extra laps during their slump times, this advice can be applied when an individual or family suffers financial downturns as well. What are the fundamentals when it comes to money? Remember the basic survival needs and the Five Most Important exercise? These provide the fundamentals of where to spend your resources; they provide spending priorities.
What other suggestions would you give to someone who is experiencing a financial slump?
