When the weather warmed up this past Spring, I planted the remaining Persistent Potato in my garden (one of the two did not make it through the winter). However, its trials were not over yet. We had an infestation of grasshoppers this year. The grasshoppers nearly ate every green plant in the garden. The little potato was badly damaged, but managed to survive.
When it was time to harvest, I carefully removed the soil around the dried and shriveled potato vines. To my delight there were a handful of new potatoes! In spite of all the hardships, this little potato did all it could do with the resources and opportunities available to it.
